One of the UK’s largest shopping centres, spanning 120,000 square metres and welcoming around 15 million visitors each year, is partnering with Living Map to enhance the shopper experience.

Derbion in Derby is the latest Savills-managed retail destination to invest in Living Map’s digital wayfinding expertise, recognising the value of intelligent, visitor-focused navigation technology. As expectations evolve, seamless in-store navigation and real-time information can improve the retail experience.

Living Map, a UK specialist in digital mapping, wayfinding, asset tracking and visualisation, is developing an interactive digital map designed to help visitors navigate the centre with ease. This will focus on reducing confusion, preventing lost journeys and enabling instant redirection in the event of store relocations, closures or layout changes. The platform will also provide data analytics to support smoother day-to-day operations, while offering insights that help optimise centre performance and drive continuous improvement across the space. The technology will be accessible to shoppers via on-site kiosks, mobile and desktop.

“We are always looking for ways to make every visit to Derbion as easy and enjoyable as possible,” said Carly Salisbury, head of marketing at Derbion. “Partnering with Living Map allows us to introduce a smarter, more intuitive wayfinding experience that helps guests navigate the centre with confidence. This investment reflects our commitment to enhancing convenience, accessibility and overall visitor satisfaction as expectations continue to evolve.”

Phil Rae, chief product officer at Living Map (www.livingmap.com), added: “We’re pleased to be working with Derbion on this project, in collaboration with Savills, with whom we’ve developed a strong and trusted partnership. Our focus is on making it easier for visitors to navigate the centre day to day, while the centre’s management team can use our platform to keep maps accurate, current and reflective of changes as they happen.”

The service will be launched and available to the public later this year.

Derbion (www.derbion.com) is the East Midlands’ premier retail and leisure destination, aiming to offer a full family-day out within a contemporary and safe environment. The centre has a line of famous brands with over 200 household names.
