A dry cleaner chain in Nevada is rolling out retail robots so customers can drop off or collect garments round the clock, 365 days a year.
Al Phillips the Cleaner and its sister brand Thrift DLux, together Nevada’s largest dry cleaner, are also rebranding as Al Phillips Cleaners as each store goes semi-autonomous offering round-the-clock access.
Using retail robotics, customers check in on a touch screen, after which the system uses a combination of computers, scanners and mechanical conveyors to locate and retrieve their orders on demand. With just their mobile phone number and a credit card, customers can drop off or pick up garments at any time, 365 days a year.
“This technology redefines convenience in garment care, and does it without compromising our service standards,” said Justin Koh, CEO of the company’s operating entity Advent Cleaners and executive chairman of its parent company Timeless Cleaners. “We’re delivering an industry-leading experience tailored to Las Vegas’ 24/7 lifestyle.”
Al Phillips the Cleaner, which opened in 1964, pioneered the 24/7 dry cleaning model industry-wide. That model eventually fell out of style, but is making a high-tech resurgence in today’s convenience-focused consumer environment.
“Our customers are already embracing the freedom of around-the-clock access,” said Nick Gausling, chief operating officer. “Soon, nearly every Las Vegas resident will be minutes away from world-class garment care, day or night.”
The chain has already installed the systems and opened up round-the-clock access at its stores on Farm Road, South Durango and Horizon Ridge, with a fourth slated for this month at its high-volume Anthem location. Nearly all existing stores will be converted by 2027, with new locations planned to expand the company’s presence across greater Las Vegas.
“There’s multiple parts of the valley where we’ll increase our retail footprint, especially in the south and northwest,” said Gausling. “Dry cleaning and laundry services are a very location-centric business, and we’re looking to invest into growing neighbourhoods.”
The rebrand to Al Phillips Cleaners will roll out in phases as stores are upgraded. It includes a stylish new logo, a web domain at drycleaner.vegas, and an upcoming overhaul of the company’s digital presence, including social media and a refreshed web site.
“This rebrand reflects the integration of cutting-edge technology into the Al Phillips Cleaners experience, aligning with the modern, on-demand lifestyle of our customers,” said Koh. “If you’re tired of dealing with cleaners that are still decades behind the times, come try one of our newly-renovated high-tech stores and see what you’ve been missing.”
