UK supermarket chain Morrisons is installing vision AI from Irish firm Everseen to simplify the self-checkout process.

Everseen will deploy its Evercheck product across 200 Morrisons stores in the initial rollout phase, enhancing the checkout experience for customers and staff alike.

As customer expectations evolve towards faster, more convenient shopping experiences, self-service checkouts have become increasingly popular with Morrisons customers, ensuring a quick and efficient way to pay for items.

The Evercheck (everseen.com/solutions/evercheck) platform uses real-time computer vision to simplify the self-checkout process. Gentle, on-screen prompts allow shoppers to correct any missed items themselves, keeping queues moving. The software integrates with existing systems, optimising store operations and freeing store staff to focus on customer service.

“Our new partnership with Everseen enables us to provide the fast and seamless checkout experience our customers want, while simultaneously equipping our colleagues to maintain the exceptional service that Morrisons is known for,” said Francesca Bezoari, store support office director at Morrisons.

Following a successful trial, Morrisons committed to deploying Everseen’s vision AI technology to address a critical problem in modern retail: delivering the convenience and speed of self-checkout while maintaining a seamless, frustration-free shopping experience for customers.

“Morrisons recognise that the best AI delivers measurable results without compromising the customer experience,” said Joe White, CEO of Everseen (www.everseen.com). “Our vision AI platform enables Morrisons to improve its satisfaction scores, proving that operational performance and customer service aren’t competing priorities. We’re proud to bring our experience from deploying across thousands of global checkouts to support Morrisons transformation.”

Used by 11 of the top 20 global retailers, Everseen’s technology is deployed across more than 150,000 checkouts live and 10,000 stores globally. The vision AI platform provides retailers with real-time insights that help create smoother shopping experiences, improve operational efficiency and recover lost revenue.

This is Morrisons second technology this month after becoming the first UK supermarket to deploy Instacart smart trolleys (iotm2mcouncil.org/iot-library/news/smart-retail-news/morrisons-becomes-first-uk-supermarket-to-deploy-instacart/).

Morrisons (www.morrisons-corporate.com) has a history that dates back to 1899 when William Morrison first opened an egg and butter stall in Bradford. Today it has around 500 supermarkets and 1700 convenience stores. It employs around 95,000 people.
