Fashion retailer Glik’s is investing in Aptos One PoS and OMS to create a unified commerce experience.

The modern point of sale system is to be deployed at more than 70 stores so the cloud-native order management system can add omnichannel capabilities.

Based in Georgia, USA, Aptos has announced that fashion retailer Glik’s is implementing its cloud-native technology to deliver omnichannel and customer engagement capabilities. This initiative should yield benefits such as more unified customer experiences across physical and digital channels, PoS mobility, and simplified, centralised store operations management.

Founded in 1897, Glik’s is an example of retail resilience and stability. As one of the oldest family-owned fashion retailers in the USA, Glik’s is led by the fourth and fifth generations of the Glik family. With 70-plus stores and a growing ecommerce presence, Glik’s focuses on service, localised product selection and affordable pricing.

“At Glik’s, our secret sauce is adapting to each community that we serve,” said Melissa Haynes, chief marketing officer at Glik’s. “With an emphasis on highly curated store assortments, our merchandise buyers are closely connected with our store managers and staff to ensure each store is filled with brands and styles that resonate with local shoppers. Equally important to a product selection that adapts to our customers’ needs is ensuring that the overall experience with the Glik’s brand aligns with shoppers’ changing preferences. Our expanded partnership with Aptos provides an opportunity to achieve unprecedented levels of efficiency, personalisation and cohesion in every customer interaction.”

Fawn Dintelmann, network administrator at Glik’s (www.gliks.com), said the technology transformation with Aptos would deliver significant advantages to Glik’s customers and employees, and would position Glik’s to adapt quickly as business conditions evolve.

“We have a future forward technology investment mindset; we look for options that will serve us for the long term and provide a foundation for sustainable growth and innovation,” Dintelmann said. “We also prioritise systems that are tried and true; technology that you can’t trust creates volatility in the stores, and that volatility feeds into the store culture, which the customer can feel. With Aptos, Glik’s strikes an optimal balance: partnering with a proven, trusted vendor while gaining access to the most modern advancements in omnichannel retail technology, including cloud-native and mobile-first applications. Once live, Aptos’ unified commerce platform will elevate every aspect of the Glik’s customer journey, and that’s something we’re very excited about.”

Initiatives that will be enabled through Aptos One PoS and OMS (order management system) include:

  • Modern fixed tills and PoS mobility: Aptos One PoS will be deployed on iPads, replacing the Windows-based registers at Glik’s fixed till cash wraps. Beyond the fixed iPad setup, Glik’s will leverage Aptos One for mobile PoS use cases, such as in-store line busting and serving customers during sidewalk sales and pop-up events.
  • Seamless omnichannel experiences: Integrated end-to-end order orchestration tools, enterprise-wide inventory visibility, streamlined endless aisle transactions and the ability to expand the online assortment are key revenue-driving and profitability-enhancing advantages that will be unlocked.
  • Empowered store staff: Glik’s shop assistants will have the tools to deliver engaging and individualised customer service, including real-time inventory information, omnichannel selling, fulfilment options and customer insights. Plus, as an app-based PoS system, Aptos One delivers fast and intuitive workflows, making staff more efficient and effective and reducing onboarding time.
  • Simplified operations and faster upgrades: With the cloud-based PoS and OMS, Glik’s can manage configurations, deploy updates, gain real-time insights and scale performance, all from one central location with zero disruption to store operations.

The PoS and OMS should seamlessly integrate with the Aptos applications already in use by Glik’s, including CRM, merchandising, warehouse management and sales audit.

“Currently celebrating its 128th anniversary, Glik’s is an inspiring retailer that has thrived by being customer-focused, community-invested and highly adaptive,” said Aptos general manager Jeremy Grunzweig. “We deeply value the opportunity to partner with Glik’s on this unified commerce transformation and look forward to seeing the positive impact these innovations will have on its customers, employees and business.”
