Canadian retail management software provider LOC Software has joined forces with Diebold Nixdorf to simplify self-checkout implementation for retailers.

Using an open platform approach for checkout, this partnership will enable Diebold Nixdorf to run LOC’s ThriVersa software natively on the company’s self-checkout and kiosk systems.

LOC’s retail management software is designed to be used as a single database for transactions on Diebold Nixdorf’s self-service products, point-of-sale (PoS) terminals or mobile devices. Additionally, its flexible screen design lets cashiers and customers easily navigate the checkout process, helping stores optimise retail performance.

Diebold Nixdorf’s self-checkout and kiosk systems are modular and open, delivering uptime and reliability. This allows grocery and convenience-store operators to deploy self-service technology confidently. In addition to the recently announced (iotm2mcouncil.org/iot-library/news/smart-retail-news/diebold-nixdorf-expands-retail-tech-production-in-ohio) new retail production line in its manufacturing facility in North Canton, Ohio, Diebold Nixdorf also prioritises service support, employing more than 2000 technicians in North America to provide prompt, expert service when necessary.

“The open retailing approach is a key element of Diebold Nixdorf’s self-service design, ensuring a smooth interaction,” said Ed McCabe, head of retail sales in North America for Diebold Nixdorf. “This strategic alliance brings significant value to retailers as they can easily combine software from LOC with our industry-leading self-service technology.”

Yves Bourdua, vice president at LOC Software, added: “Both Diebold Nixdorf and LOC are committed to innovation. We will be exploring additional ways to enhance checkout processes and deliver value through our partnership.”
