Checkpoint RFID integrates with existing PoS systems

New Jersey-based Checkpoint Systems has launched an all-in-one RFID reader family to support the operational demands of today’s rapidly evolving retail environment.
Called Readfinity, it combines fast item-level RFID reading, real-time embedded processing and seamless integration with existing PoS infrastructures, self-service kiosks and others. It is a scalable and compact intelligent retail platform designed to streamline daily operations, reduce complexity and lay the foundation for more intelligent, connected stores.
Retailers are facing increasing pressure from the growth of self-service and cashier-less formats, alongside higher expectations for speed, accuracy and operational efficiency. In this context, RFID technology providing automatic identification and tracking of tagged products throughout their lifecycle has become a critical enabler.

The goal behind Readfinity is to consolidate multiple hardware components into a single, compact RFID platform with fast reading performance. An embedded computing architecture allows it to operate autonomously, without constant dependence on centralised systems or cloud connectivity. This enables real-time transaction validation, automatic reconciliation between scanned items and actual purchases, and immediate detection of unpaid items at exit points.
Readfinity also includes expandable GPIO connectivity, allowing easy integration with external devices such as sensors, indicators and automation components. This flexibility supports a broad range of in-store configurations and operational scenarios.
The platform supports upcoming edge AI capabilities, enabling data processing and decision-making directly at the reader level. By analysing RFID and sensor data locally, retailers can reduce latency, limit reliance on cloud infrastructure, and unlock use cases such as dynamic inventory optimisation, trend-based replenishment, customer behaviour analysis and more personalised in-store experiences.
