South Korean firm Willog has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Korea Trade Information & Communication (KTNet) for a joint proof of concept (PoC) of an IoT-based international transport logistics visibility service.

Willog is an AIoT-based supply chain intelligence company. The MoU is part of KTNet’s logistics on-off business initiative and was established to verify the potential of a service model that links digital logistics information with on-site logistics services.

KTNet is a agency providing digital infrastructure for the trade and logistics sectors, supporting the digital transformation of domestic trade and logistics companies through logistics platforms such as uTradeHub and uLogisHub. The logistics on-off project, which served as the basis for this MoU, aims to link digital logistics information with actual on-site logistics services to connect information across the entire logistics process from shipment departure to arrival, and expand the logistics services required by users.

Under the agreement, KTNet is responsible for recruiting PoC participants, conducting the demonstration and coordinating tasks between the two companies. Additionally, it will analyse the demonstration results to examine the feasibility of linking cargo monitoring data with existing trade and logistics information and, based on this, explore directions for expanding logistics services linked to its own services, such as uLogisHub.

Willog will oversee the overall operation of the cargo monitoring service for this PoC, including receiving and managing participation applications, reviewing service applicability, providing IoT devices and cargo monitoring services, and offering customer support.

Cargo monitoring data collected through the PoC and feedback from participating companies will be jointly analysed by both companies to verify the service’s utility and feasibility for field application. In particular, the structure includes an insurance service where Willog’s IoT data serve as the basis for compensating for quality losses in international shipments, thereby demonstrating a data-driven risk management system for the entire international transportation process.

Based on the operational results following the conclusion of the PoC, both companies plan to review jointly a service model linking KTNet’s uLogisHub and Willog’s technology, and expand into full-scale commercialisation cooperation depending on the results.

“The combination of KTNet’s digital trade and logistics infrastructure and Willog’s IoT data capabilities can effectively resolve the visibility gaps in international cargo shipments,” said Bae Seong-hoon, CEO of Willog (www.willog.io). “Through this PoC, we will verify the feasibility of field application and work together to establish a new standard for the digital transformation of trade logistics.”

Ko Byeong-kwon, senior vice president at KTNet (www.ktnet.com), added: “The core of the logistics on-off business is connecting digital information with the field. We expect Willog’s IoT-based cargo monitoring technology to play a key role in this field connection, and we hope that, through this PoC, KTNet’s clients will gain a new experience in managing international cargo shipments.”
