Taiwanese firm Unitech has introduced a rugged handheld terminal to address the growing demands across cold chain logistics, warehousing and manufacturing.

The HT730 Plus is a dedicated cold chain model operating down to -30˚C, with 32m range scanning, 5G, Wifi 6E and eSIM. It is powered by Android 14 with Google Mobile Services (GMS) and Android Enterprise Recommended (AER).

In cold storage and freezing environments, extremely low temperatures can cause slow screen responses and reduced device performance. The model features an integrated heater module for stable operation down to -30˚C, helping prevent abnormal screen responses, internal condensation, data loss and operational downtime. Furthermore, the device offers IP65 and IP67 dust and water protection and withstands 2.4m drops with a bumper, providing enterprise-grade protection for cold storage facilities.

With a barcode reading range of up to 32m, it lets workers scan high warehouse racks and distant pallets safely from the ground. It supports a wide range of symbologies, including 1D, 2D, DotCode and OCR, enabling accurate data capture while reducing manual data entry errors. The ergonomic 30-degree tilt-down scanning design, combined with keypad options (29 or 38 keys), facilitates comfortable one-handed operation and reduces worker fatigue during intensive scanning shifts.

Driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4490 octa-core processor, it performs in data-intensive enterprise applications. It also incorporates wireless technologies, including 5G, Wifi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, supporting real-time data transmission.

Notably, the integration of eSIM technology enables secure, hassle-free network provisioning, simplifying large-scale device deployment and connectivity management by eliminating the need to install or replace SIM cards manually on individual devices.

Additionally, SmartPA technology improves audio quality and volume while helping protect the speaker from electrical and thermal damage, enabling clearer alerts and voice communication in noisy work environments.
