Illinois-based warehouse automation firm Numina is implementing autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) from Chinese firm Geek+ in North America. Geek+ has also signed a service partnership in Europe with German firm ProLog Automation.

Numina is a software developer and integrator of warehouse automation. It has already begun implementing Geek+ technology.

Numina chose Geek+’s AMRs to increase picking productivity and profitability for a client’s sporting goods order fulfilment operation. The online sports retailer now benefits from Geek+’s goods-to-person (G2P) technology with a fleet of P800 picking robots to automate picking and put away from 50,000 warehouse storage shelf positions.

“We are very pleased to have partnered with the Numina Group,” said Randy Randolph, vice president for Geek+ in the Americas. “They have an excellent reputation with over three decades of experience automating warehouse operations, and we are delighted to see that they have already started using Geek+ technology to create effective, modern supply chains.”

Dan Hanrahan, president at Numina Group, added: “We have been aware of what Geek+ has been developing for some time, and we are excited to partner with them to deliver top-of-the-line AMR and G2P for our clients. The warehouse automation system underway at the client’s 70,000 SKU sporting goods distribution firm is an excellent example of how Numina’s warehouse automation software can seamlessly integrate Geek+’s AI-powered G2P technology to deliver software driven, cutting-edge technology that equips retailers and e-tailers with faster and more accurate order fulfilment.”

The partnering agreement allows Numina to bring Geek+’s robots to companies throughout North America. This lets Numina provide multiple industries, including ecommerce, food and beverage, healthcare, 3PL, and consumer goods, the benefits of robotics to lower operating costs, remove labour intensive work tasks and improve warehouse space use.

The ProLog deal sees the German firm’s experts support Geek+’s AMRs in implementation and aftersales. This includes hotline support, remote support, deployment and maintenance.

“With ProLog Automation, we have found the optimal partner to consistently provide high-quality installation performance, maintenance, and after-sales services,” said Markus Ruck, director of project implementation for Geek+ in Europe. “This enables us to meet the demand for projects that need to be implemented at short notice and will increase the service quality with additional German-speaking contact partners.”

In the long term, this should improve service quality, delivery capability and availability. The partnership is operational in various European countries with project implementations and service orders already underway.

“Our targeted growth and the internationalisation of our service and integration activities will be further expanded through the cooperation with Geek+,” said ProLog Automation CEO Markus Zipper. “We are pleased that Geek+, as one of the leading AMR providers, is working with ProLog to expand the great potential in Europe.”

Founded in 2015, Geek+ has more than 1500 employees, with offices in the USA, UK, Germany, Japan, South Korea, China, Hong Kong and Singapore.
