Intelliguard and Accucold have introduced an integrated RFID-enabled refrigeration system for hospital medication management. The Mira Care Inventory Cabinet is designed to automate the tracking of temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals in real-time.

The system embeds Intelliguard’s RFID technology directly into Accucold’s Pharma-Vac refrigeration units. It automatically identifies and monitors medications, providing data on expiration dates, recall exposure, and user access. The cabinets are available in multiple sizes for use in central pharmacies, satellite clinics, and remote locations.

The integration aims to reduce financial and operational risks associated with medication storage errors. The system supports both source-tagged and self-tagged medications, adhering to GS1 standards for interoperability across different healthcare environments.

“By integrating RFID directly into refrigeration, Mira Care delivers real-time inventory visibility,” said Bob Howard, CEO of Intelliguard. He noted that the system helps pharmacies track refrigerated medications with the same precision expected in other parts of the hospital supply chain.

Accucold, a division of Felix Storch, Inc., has manufactured medical-grade refrigeration for over 50 years. The new cabinets are designed to provide a unified solution for inventory tracking and cold-chain storage.
