Big Joe Forklifts has launched a lithium-ion powered walkie straddle stacker for use in narrow warehouse aisles and production environments. The WS25-40 High Performance Lithium-ion Stacker is intended to replace internal combustion equipment with electric alternatives in high-throughput settings.

The new model features an integrated lithium-ion battery and an onboard charger, which allows for opportunity charging throughout work shifts. This configuration is designed to eliminate the maintenance requirements associated with traditional lead-acid batteries.

Technical specifications for the WS25-40 include:

  • Load capacities ranging from 2,500 to 4,000 lbs
  • Adjustable lift and lower speeds for cycle time optimisation
  • Fully proportional controls for load handling
  • Integrated lithium-ion power system with onboard charging

Jimmy Anderson, director of product management at Big Joe Forklifts, said the stacker was developed to address the challenges of tightening warehouse footprints. He noted that the integration of lithium-ion technology into a compact frame is intended to simplify fleet ownership and reduce operational downtime.

Big Joe, established in 1951, operates a distribution network across North America. The company has recently shifted its focus toward electric and autonomous material handling solutions as part of a broader industry transition away from fossil-fuelled warehouse machinery.
