Said to be the world’s first solar-compatible smart electric vehicle charger, the Zappi from Myenergi can now integrate with Octopus Energy’s smart Octopus Go tariff in the UK.
This will let EV drivers reduce their home charging costs with access to six hours of low-cost energy every night.
The integration has been achieved thanks to collaboration between the two companies. Following a successful beta trial with selected Myenergi users, the feature has now been unlocked as a selectable option for all Zappi users.
The Zappi was said to be the first charger in the world to integrate fully with self-generated renewable energy, allowing users to charge at zero marginal cost from their microgeneration. Since then, features and functionality have been added to the smart device, which was one of the first products to be certified as fully compliant with the UK electric vehicle smart charge point regulations.
As well as being one of the smartest chargers on the market, capable of both integrating fully with renewable self-generation and now able to integrate with one of the market’s cheapest energy tariffs, the Zappi is designed and engineered in Britain, and manufactured at Myenergi’s UK production facility.
“There are now well over 100,000 happy Zappi customers in the UK, and we are really proud to be able to offer them full integration with the intelligent Octopus Go [octopus.energy] tariff to enable them to charge when its cheapest,” said Jordan Brompton, co-founder and CMO of Myenergi (www.myenergi.com). “As well as helping customers to reduce their home charging costs, our Zappi chargers are also able to help the grid. With more than 500MW of connected capacity in the UK – more than the rated capacity of the Hinckley Point A nuclear power station (470MW) – our customer base is set to play a crucial role in supporting the flexible, decentralised and distributed energy system of tomorrow.”
