Uber, Autobrains Munich autonomous robotaxi pilot

Israeli AI developer Autobrains and Uber are launching a pilot robotaxi programme in Munich, employing NVIDIA’s DRIVE Hyperion autonomous vehicle platform.
The pilot project will integrate Autobrains’ “Agentic AI” technology with Uber’s existing mobility network. The companies stated that Munich was selected due to its dense urban environment, high-speed road networks, and the existing German regulatory framework for autonomous driving. The launch remains subject to final regulatory approval.
Autobrains’ technology uses specialised AI agents to handle specific driving contexts rather than a single monolithic model. This approach is designed to operate on standard automotive sensor configurations, which the companies claim will allow for easier scaling across different vehicle manufacturers and urban markets.
The programme aims to establish an “OEM-agnostic” model, allowing various car manufacturers to participate in autonomous ride-hailing by integrating their vehicle platforms with the provided software and compute stack.
“Autonomous driving will not scale by relying on a single model to solve every driving scenario,” said Igal Raichelgauz, Chief Executive and Founder of Autobrains. “It requires systems that can reason, adapt, and make decisions under uncertainty.”
