Public safety AI specialit RapidSOS has launched a new feature allowing live call intelligence secure sharing across state and local public safety agencies. The Real-Time Interoperability feature is designed to cut the time it takes to dispatch emergency responders.
The new system has undergone field trials with a number of US police departments, including the City of Miami.
The Real-Time Interoperability capability provides instant automated sharing of call summaries and transcripts across jurisdictional boundaries. It is designed to address the more than 10% of emergency calls that are affected by connectivity issues or routing challenges, leading to visibility gaps for public safety agencies.
The feature uses AI technology, called HARMONY AI, informed by over one billion emergencies supported by RapidSOS. HARMONY AI provides live synchronised intelligence, including access to live call transcripts and AI-generated summaries for both answering and authoritative agencies.
“Real-Time Interoperability is a critical step forward in public safety,” said Michael Martin, founder and CEO of RapidSOS. “It enables agencies to respond more quickly and effectively to emergencies, regardless of jurisdictional boundaries.”
Luz Ponce, Communication Centre Administrator at the City of Miami Police Department, tested the new capability during field trials and reported positive results. “Real-Time Interoperability has reduced our manual burden and enabled us to respond more efficiently to emergency calls,” she said.
RapidSOS has been testing Real-Time Interoperability in partnership with leading public safety agencies and will continue to refine the feature based on user feedback.
