A regional police force in Ontario has deployed Avante’s Gunshot Detection system to three high-crime locations. The system uses energy-signature detection instead of traditional acoustic methods to identify and triangulate gunfire.
According to the agreement, the police force will also utilise Avante’s Human-in-the-Loop technology and expertise, which enables ongoing monitoring and response support. This includes validating and escalating alerts to support rapid decision-making by law enforcement.
The Gunshot Detection system is a fully automated system that can pinpoint gunfire weapons to within approximately 25 feet, covering up to 795,000 square feet per sensor. It has achieved a false alarm rate of approximately 0.5% and operates with solar-powered sensors that do not require complex infrastructure.
Avante’s technology is designated under the US Department of Homeland Security Safety Act and is designed to scale easily across multiple locations without significant infrastructure requirements.
The deployment aims to support law enforcement in responding faster and more effectively to gun-related incidents, with the potential for future expansion into additional Avante technologies and services.
Avante is a Toronto-based provider of security personnel and technology-enabled security solutions.
