Beam Global and the Masdar City Free Zone have signed a memorandum of understanding to deploy off-grid electric vehicle charging and clean-energy mobility infrastructure across the planned urban development in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The collaboration focuses on integrating advanced energy systems into the municipality’s transport network. Under the agreement, Beam Middle East will supply hardware including solar-integrated e-bike stations and off-grid EV chargers, which are designed to operate independently without drawing power from the central electrical grid.

The deployment targets municipal use cases within Masdar City’s Smart and Autonomous Vehicle Industries (SAVI) cluster. This zone provides a regulatory and physical framework for testing sustainable urban transport. By utilising off-grid infrastructure, the municipality aims to expand its clean-energy transit options, reduce emissions, and maintain grid resilience without requiring extensive trenching or electrical upgrades.

The agreement follows Beam Middle East securing licensing to operate within the Masdar City Free Zone, positioning the company to supply hardware for the UAE’s broader infrastructure transition. The national government is currently implementing its Net Zero by 2050 Strategy, which mandates the decarbonisation of the transport and power sectors.

“Our sustainable mobility, energy storage and smart city solutions are engineered to deploy rapidly without grid constraints, making them a perfect fit for Masdar City’s vision of a clean, resilient, and zero-carbon future,” said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global.
