Transport for London (TfL) has published a draft Business Plan for the city’s transport network over the next five years. The plan includes expanding electrification of the bus fleet, improving real-time customer information, extending the city’s light rail network, CCTV modernisation, and new fare systems.
The plan aims to improve the experience of millions of Londoners and visitors, while making the city greener, more accessible, and boosting economic growth across London.
Key highlights of the plan include:
- A reimagined bus network, with expansion of Superloop routes, further electrification of the fleet, and improved real-time information for customers
- Extending the DLR to Beckton Riverside and Thamesmead, progressing plans for a new Bakerloo line fleet, and replacing the ageing tram fleet
- Completing the transformation of Northolt and Leyton stations to provide step-free access, as well as forging ahead with transforming stations across London
TfL will also invest in modernising CCTV systems and safety cameras across the network, improving customer reporting tools, and exploring fare innovation and loyalty schemes.
London’s Transport Commissioner, Andy Lord, stated: “This new plan sets out sustained investment in London’s vital transport infrastructure, which will improve the experience for millions of Londoners and visitors.”
