Malaysian city Kangar has deployed TSplus remote access software as part of its strategy to achieve Level 1 certification under the Malaysia Smart City Framework by 2026.

The project, implemented in partnership with Malaysian distributor Aswant Group, provides secure remote access for government employees and smart city operators. The infrastructure employs Centerm thin clients and KasperskyOS technology to provide a centralised digital workspace for managing municipal systems.

The deployment is the first public reference for TSplus in Malaysia. The system is designed to support disaster recovery, allowing IT teams to replace hardware endpoints in under two minutes without affecting municipal data. The council cited lower infrastructure costs and simplified administration as primary reasons for the selection.

The Malaysian government currently oversees 114 municipal councils, and the Kangar project is intended to serve as a repeatable model for digital transformation across these authorities. Similar projects are expected to follow in other municipalities, including Kulim.
