INRIX expand urban predictive parking platform

Transportation data firm INRIX has expanded its urban predictive parking and curb intelligence platform, providing real-time availability data to city authorities, urban mobility providers and car manufacturers.
The platform maps more than 7 million parking locations and 48 million spaces across 22,000 cities in 145 countries. It processes 50 petabytes of data, including 44 billion data points daily from 300 million connected vehicles and devices. The system provides real-time updates in 15-minute intervals and can forecast parking demand up to seven days in advance.
The technology is designed to help drivers and autonomous systems make decisions based on the probability of finding a space at their estimated time of arrival. By digitising 500,000 on-street segments, the platform tracks curb regulations, pricing, and restrictions. INRIX claims its statistical models achieve 95 per cent coverage fidelity and 90 per cent accuracy for driver-facing attributes.
The company’s approach focuses on excluding inaccessible or restricted parking from its inventory to ensure vehicles are guided only to usable options. This predictive capability is intended to reduce the time vehicles spend “cruising” for parking, which contributes significantly to urban traffic congestion.
