Innoviz Technologies and Cogniteam have partnered to launch a Counter-UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) perception module designed for smart city and critical infrastructure protection. The system combines Innoviz’s LiDAR sensors with Cogniteam’s AI-driven 3D analytics to detect and track drones.
The module is designed to distinguish between drones, birds, and other airborne objects by analysing flight behaviour, motion characteristics, and 3D signatures. The integration aims to provide high-resolution spatial data to reduce false alarm rates in sensitive urban environments and border surveillance.
The technology has been deployed for over a year in perimeter protection and infrastructure security through Cogniteam’s ClearZone platform. The new module is intended for use by system integrators and defence contractors to secure urban airspace against unauthorised drone activity.
“Our LiDAR gives defence organisations the exact 3D position of a threat, so the systems they already own act with far higher confidence,” said Omer Keilaf, Founder and CEO of Innoviz.
Dr Yehuda Elmaliah, CEO of Cogniteam, said: “Effective drone defence requires not only detecting flying objects, but accurately understanding what they are. Our advanced analytics deliver a level of detection accuracy that is difficult to achieve with conventional sensing.” The partnership was announced on 7 July 2026.
