Taiwan-based Gogoro has announced it is expanding its battery swapping ecosystem to South Korea and Vietnam to address infrastructure challenges for electric two-wheelers in high-density urban environments.

The Gogoro network currently manages 1.4 million smart batteries and more than 2,700 GoStations in Taiwan, serving over 650,000 owners with 370,000 daily swaps. This network has supported the growth of an electric vehicle industry valued at $122 billion. The company’s vision focuses on using technological innovation to build cleaner and safer urban transportation systems.

“By introducing an innovative battery swapping solution, we have eliminated the barriers of electrifying two-wheelers in Asia,” said Henry Chiang, CEO of Gogoro. He stated that the model used in Taiwan can now transform cities across Asia and beyond.

The network includes 1.4 million smart batteries and more than 2,700 GoStations across Taiwan. It serves over 650,000 scooter owners and hosts 370,000 daily swaps. The company is scaling its commercial footprint in South Korea through a partnership with Bikebank. In Vietnam, a strategic joint venture with Castrol will launch pilot programmes in the second quarter of 2026. A new vehicle for the Vietnam market is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026.

Gogoro operates an open ecosystem through its Powered by Gogoro Network (PBGN) alliance, which assists motorcycle manufacturers like Yamaha in developing electric vehicles. The company stated that its battery swapping technology provides a pragmatic path for sustainable urban transformation by allowing riders to recharge in seconds, effectively removing the primary barriers to vehicle electrification in Asia.
