Flashnet, together with Itron, Lightwell and Fluvius, is modernising around 400,000 street light controllers across Belgium. The initiative is aimed at increasing energy efficiency and safety by adding smart technology to Belgian cities.
The initiative follows Flashnet’s project with Sibelga in Brussels, where inteliLIGHT was selected as one of the solutions for modernising the city’s street lighting infrastructure. The Sibelga project demonstrated inteliLIGHT’s TALQ2-certified controllers ability to integrate with the city’s existing management platforms.
NB-IoT communication technology is being employed to provide autonomous lighting control and simplify integration of other urban technologies. Zhaga NB-IoT compatible luminaire controllers, managed by Itron’s smart city platform, are integrated via the TALQ Smart City Protocol.
The initiative is expected to provide energy savings, reduced maintenance costs, and improved urban safety.
