South Korean simulation software company E8ight has developed NDX Pro, a simulation-based digital twin platform that integrates and processes data from a city’s transportation, communications and services.

With the NFlow simulation software, E8ight says it is driving the digital transformation and innovation of numerous fields, such as manufacturing, design, bio and healthcare, renewable energy, and disaster management.
The company is providing it to major cities embarking on their journey towards digital transformation and smart cities.
A digital twin represents physical objects or space in a virtual environment, which enables verification and prediction through simulation. This technology can be applied to a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, construction, aviation, healthcare, energy and defence.
NDX Pro will soon be applied to the smart city pilot projects of Sejong Smart City and Busan Eco Delta City. Using the WebGL-based 3D visualisation viewer, it enables those involved to check the simulation results and visualise various digital assets in 3D.
NDX Pro is based on NFlow, E8ight’s independently developed simulation software. NFlow is said to be easy to use since it makes use of a meshless simulation method. It can also predict and simulate complex physical phenomena, such as the flow of water, air and fine dust as well as free surface flow with its particle-level interpretation capability.
Furthermore, it can learn data using its modelling-based simulation capability and make proactive predictions while conventional machine-learning software depends on data collected and processed through ICT and the IoT.
NFlow has been applied to several major industries in Korea, including smart cities and water resources management.
“E8ight pursues its mission ‘We digitalise, simulate and present the flow’ through simulation software,” said CEO Jin Kim. “We are doing our best to fulfil our corporate social responsibility by innovating technologies for easier, faster, more flexible and more efficient digital transformation.”
The company is conducting a pilot project to create a digital twin for the renewable energy transition in Ireland, as part of a global new software launching programme by the NIPA, Korea’s national IT industry promotion agency.
