The Town of Dover, New Jersey, has deployed AI-driven surveillance technology across its municipal buildings, in partnership with Claro.
Working with Claro, the Town of Dover integrated AI Video Analytics use cases, such as visible weapons detection and facial recognition, into its existing camera system. This has avoided the cost and disruption of a full infrastructure overhaul.
The buildings covered include the town’s municipal building, public library, the fire and the police departments.
The AI-driven surveillance use cases incorporated into the system include: active shooter preparedness; crime deterrence and investigation support; illegal dumping detection; traffic and crowd monitoring.
As part of the long-term strategy, the Town of Dover plans to expand the use of AI Video Analytics throughout the business district and other community zones.
“As a small municipality, we don’t have the budget for constant law enforcement presence,” said Mayor James Dodd. “Claro gave us the ability to enhance safety with cutting-edge technology that works with what we already have.”
Councilman Sergio Rodriguez, who helped lead the initiative, believes the partnership demonstrates how public-private collaboration can produce meaningful change. “Claro wasn’t just selling a product,” he said. “They listened to our needs and delivered solutions that worked for the Town of Dover.”
