Digi International has introduced the Digi TX65, a series of 5G routers designed for mission-critical transportation and industrial operations. The ruggedised devices are intended to modernise connectivity for transit agencies, public safety organisations, and utility fleets by consolidating networking, GNSS, and Wi-Fi 7 into a single platform.

The hardware is built on the Qualcomm SDX72 platform and supports 3GPP Release 17 specifications. It features dual-SIM technology that allows both connections to remain active simultaneously, intended to eliminate delays during carrier failover. The series includes three models, ranging from single-modem units to dual-5G versions for continuous multi-carrier redundancy.

The routers are designed for harsh environments, featuring IP64 protection and operating temperature tolerances from -40°C to +75°C. They are compatible with public and private cellular networks, including FirstNet and CBRS. Management is handled through a cloud-based platform for remote provisioning and troubleshooting.

“Our transportation and heavy-duty industrial customers have been asking for a single ruggedised platform that scales from their small vehicles up through large passenger buses, light rail, or command vehicles,” said Tony Puopolo, President of Digi Managed Solutions.

General availability for the devices is expected in July 2026. The platform is designed to reduce hardware sprawl and maintenance costs for municipal fleet operators.
