Cybersecurity firm SecurityScorecard has partnered with the City of Baton Rouge and the Parish of East Baton Rouge to deploy a risk management platform aimed at securing the municipality’s third-party vendors, a critical step in protecting smart city and IoT infrastructure.
The city’s Office of Information Technology will use SecurityScorecard’s TITAN AI platform to monitor external service providers. The system provides continuous visibility into the security posture of the city’s supply chain, identifying vulnerabilities that could expose connected municipal networks to ransomware, data breaches, or service disruptions.
As local governments increasingly deploy IoT devices—such as connected traffic sensors, smart utility meters, and public safety cameras—they rely heavily on external contractors for hardware and cloud services. This expanding digital footprint creates new entry points for cyber attacks, making supply chain visibility essential for maintaining uninterrupted smart city operations.
“Our vendor ecosystem has grown more complex, and with it, our exposure to third-party risk,” said Rizwan Ahmed, Chief Information Officer for the City of Baton Rouge and Parish of East Baton Rouge. “SecurityScorecard’s platform gives our team continuous, actionable visibility into that risk so we can act before small gaps become real incidents.”
The partnership reflects a growing mandate among government and critical infrastructure operators to move beyond periodic security audits. By continuously monitoring vendor networks, municipalities aim to secure the embedded operational technology that underpins modern civic services.
