Infrastructure firm Atoms and electric air taxi developer Joby Aviation have partnered to acquire and develop vertiport sites across the United States. The collaboration will focus on establishing landing and charging infrastructure in Florida, New York, Texas, and California.

The partnership aims to build next-generation transportation hubs where electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, autonomous ground vehicles, and ride-sharing services converge. These hubs will provide passenger connections, aircraft servicing, and last-mile ground transportation as part of a broader smart city framework.

Joby is currently preparing for commercial operations under the White House-backed eVTOL Integration Pilot Programme (eIPP). The company has entered the final stage of FAA type certification and has conducted piloted test flights in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Atoms, led by Travis Kalanick, will provide the real-estate and infrastructure expertise for the project. The firm’s in-house teams will manage the deployment of power-intensive sites designed to support the high electrical demands of air taxi charging and autonomous fleet operations.
