Taiwanese building surveillance specialist VIVOTEK has completed installation of a hybrid cloud surveillance system at the Kongens Ege mixed-use development in Denmark. The project, delivered with partners ITV Security and FA-EL, replaces traditional security infrastructure at the former Scandic Kongens Ege hotel site, which has been redeveloped into residential and hospitality units.

The installation includes 4K high-resolution cameras for forensic detail and specialised Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras for automated vehicle access to parking areas. The system uses VORTEX Connect technology embedded in network video recorders, allowing for centralised cloud management without the need for a dedicated on-site server.

The hybrid architecture enables remote system management, allowing operators to reboot hardware, manage alarms, and configure cameras off-site. Automated failure alerts notify staff if devices go offline, while cybersecurity is managed through Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).

“VIVOTEK’s VORTEX Connect works perfectly, providing the safety and operational convenience we need for the entire site,” said Karsten Michael Kirkegaard, owner of the Kongens Ege site.

The deployment is intended to serve as a model for property developers seeking to integrate AI analytics and smart sensors into building management. The system is designed to scale as the development adds further smart building features.
