Tata Power and 75F Smart Innovations are jointly promoting building automation and energy-efficiency for commercial buildings in India.

75F designs and manufactures an IoT-based building management system, an out-of-the-box, vertically integrated product that is said to be more affordable and easier to deploy. The company leverages IoT, cloud computing and machine learning for data-driven, proactive building intelligence and controls for HVAC and lighting optimisation.

The association with Tata is for commercial buildings in IT, hospitality, healthcare, education, government and retail sectors. The aim is to help businesses optimise their energy consumption and usage.

Tata and 75F will jointly offer products for HVAC optimisation and smart building automation powered by technologies such as IoT, cloud AI and ML. These can help commercial buildings with centrally air-conditioned spaces attain savings on their HVAC energy consumption, which typically constitutes 50% or more of total building energy consumption, along with intelligent automation, analytics and actionable insights regarding their facility and portfolio data.

75F provides a full-stack, IoT-based building management system that includes sensors, zone controllers, master controllers, integrated building intelligence and portfolio analytics. Its vertically integrated hardware and software work out of the box to improve comfort and indoor air quality while reducing building energy consumption.

“We seek to solve the growing challenges of energy wastage and the need for automation across the world,” said Deepinder Singh, CEO of 75F in the USA. “Towards this end, we’re delighted to associate with a globally renowned company like Tata Power on a joint mission to deliver on a triple bottom line: making people more productive, companies more profitable and the planet more sustainable.”

Due to increased economic activity, power consumption in commercial establishments has increased manifold. The use of energy conservation can help reduce costs and result in energy savings for businesses and building owners.

Sanjay Banga, T&D president at Tata Power, said: “Collaborating with 75F unfolds avenues for greater adoption and propagation of energy efficiency initiatives. Implementation of smart technology will enable a smooth transition to sustainable alternatives for commercial building segment.”

Gaurav Burman, Apac president for 75F, added: “Across 1.8 billion square metres of commercial real estate in India, there is an estimated energy savings potential of seven billion KWh, without replacing any equipment at all. With climate change staring us in the face, commercial energy costs are among the top ten highest in the world. The customer need is there, the technology is there and with Tata Power-75F’s innovative go-to-market model, we believe the means are also there, to make a change.”

And Tarun Katiyar, CEO of Tata Power Trading, said: “Entering into tie-up with 75F unfolds avenues for Tata Power Trading for greater adoption and propagation of energy efficiency initiatives. Use of smart technology can even convert existing buildings to be more eco-friendly and energy efficient, that makes environment more sustainable and healthier for occupants”

Tata Power is one of India’s largest integrated power companies and with its subsidiaries and jointly controlled entities has an installed or managed capacity of 13,974MW.
