Fifteen years after introducing Europe’s first smart thermostat, German company Tado° has unveiled Smart Thermostat X, its second-generation model.

At 17.8mm, it is said to be the thinnest smart thermostat on the market. It has a clean matte-white finish, LED display and a circular touch interface that provides intuitive control directly from the device.

A top button gives faster access to everyday controls, while the user experience builds on existing Tado° X features, including Matter and Thread compatibility. The button can be adjusted individually, for example, to show humidity or boost heating.

To reduce maintenance, a USB-C rechargeable battery lasts for more than a year on a single charge, eliminating regular disposable battery changes. Installation has also been simplified and guided setup has been included in the Tado° app. The unit is compatible with boilers, heat pumps and underfloor heating systems.

AI Assist was developed to help users save more energy. It uses AI to optimise heating automatically based on weather conditions and the characteristics of each home. Features such as geofencing, open window detection, adaptive heating and pre-heat before arrival work in the background to increase comfort while reducing energy use.

Hydronic balancing improves efficiency by intelligently optimising the heating system, helping households reduce energy consumption and unlock additional savings.

Tado° has also introduced Multi Home, so users can manage multiple homes or offices from a single account through the Tado° app. Whether managing a holiday property, small office, rental property or helping relatives with their heating, users can optimise every property from one place. It also enables them to manage Tado° products from different lines in one account.

Founded in Munich in 2011, Tado° (www.tado.com) combines hardware, intelligent software and services into one platform. It offers home climate management, intelligent electric vehicle charging, photovoltaic integration and dynamic energy tariffs, all while automatically shifting electricity consumption to the cheapest and greenest hours of the day.
