STMicroelectronics has released a suite of engineering resources to support the Aliro 1.0 protocol for digital access control. The protocol, published by the Connectivity Standards Alliance, standardises how smartphones and wearables exchange credentials with smart locks.
The company’s new software and reference designs are intended to help manufacturers accelerate the development of Aliro-compliant readers. The technology supports various configurations, ranging from NFC-only systems to integrated NFC, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) solutions for hands-free access.
The STMicroelectronics Aliro development package includes:
- X-CUBE-ALIRO: A software package integrated into the STM32Cube ecosystem
- STEVAL-ALOCKCB: A reference design for building Aliro-compliant reader devices
- ST25 NFC readers and STM32 microcontrollers
- STSAFE-A: An embedded secure element for digital key storage
Luca Verre, Group Vice President at STMicroelectronics, said the company is providing a complete portfolio of connectivity and security solutions to support the new standard. The tools are designed to simplify RF-system design and compliance testing for device makers.
Nuki Home Solutions has demonstrated a complete Aliro system based on ST’s reference design at the Embedded World 2026 exhibition.
STMicroelectronics provides semiconductor solutions across industrial, automotive, and consumer electronics sectors.
