Semtech Corporation has agreed with Trident IoT to integrate multi-protocol software into its LoRa Plus platform. The partnership allows Semtech to provide a unified hardware and software solution for smart home protocols including Z-Wave, Zigbee, and Thread/Matter connectivity.
Under the agreement, customers using Semtech’s LoRa Plus transceivers will receive royalty-free access to Trident IoT’s software development kit (SDK) and ELCap development tools. The move is intended to reduce development complexity for manufacturers of smart home and security devices.
The phased rollout of protocol support includes:
- Z-Wave: Initial release providing secure, low-latency connectivity
- Zigbee and Thread/Matter: Planned subsequent updates to enhance interoperability
- LR2021: Semtech’s 4th generation multi-PHY transceiver
- Integrated Development Environment: Pre-validated reference designs for faster market entry
Madhu Rayabhari, general manager of Semtech’s wireless products group, said the agreement establishes the company as a single-source provider for multiple IoT standards. Beta units of the integrated solution are expected to be available to selected partners in the second quarter of 2026.
Semtech, based in Camarillo, provides semiconductors and IoT systems. The company’s LoRa Plus platform also supports LoRaWAN and Amazon Sidewalk protocols for long-range and community-based connectivity.
