Maryland-based Origin AI is working with Dutch semiconductor giant NXP to accelerate embedded wifi sensing for smart homes.

The collaboration combines Origin AI’s motion-sensing technology with NXP’s chipsets to enable seamless and scalable integration and accelerate time to market.

NXP is embedding Origin’s wifi sensing software directly into its i.MX 9 applications processors and wireless tri-radio chipsets. This fast-tracks the deployment of intelligent motion sensing into smart home devices, opening the door for services across home automation, security and energy management.

Optimising Origin AI’s sensing stack directly at the chipset level empowers customers to launch products without redesigning hardware, shortening time to market and simplifying development.

The integration focuses on enabling embedded sensing in smart plugs, routers, lighting products and other connected home devices, leveraging wifi infrastructure already in place. Benefits include reduced hardware complexity and cost.
