Home electrification company Jetson has launched a fully integrated smart home heat pump platform that automatically monitors air, energy and system health, for half the cost of standard heat pumps. The company is hoping that with Jetson Air, it will attract homeowners to install heat pumps that have been deterred by the high cost and complexity of standard installations.

Jetson Air integrates with existing ductwork, and is designed to deliver quiet operation and reliable performance in cold climates down to -22 °F / -30 °C.

The heat pump layers in intelligent smart home features such as 24/7 remote monitoring, real-time performance alerts, over-the-air updates, and indoor air quality sensing.

“I have been closely monitoring my home’s energy use and carbon emissions, so I was able to notice a significant difference after switching to an all-electric system with Jetson,” said Robin Macqueen, a North Vancouver homeowner and Jetson customer. “During the first six months after installation, my gas bill decreased by $474 compared with the previous year, while my electric bill increased only $168, for a net savings of $306. I calculate that our CO2 emissions were reduced by 2.2 tonnes over the same six-month period. These savings over six months are nearly equivalent to the emissions of one return flight to Europe. We also benefited from summer cooling, which our gas furnace hadn’t provided.
