Honeywell and the US National Hockey League (NHL) have entered a multi-year partnership to modernise building automation and energy management across North American arenas. Honeywell has been named the Official Building Automation and Energy Management Partner of the NHL.
The agreement focuses on improving the energy efficiency and operational resilience of NHL arenas, practice facilities, and community rinks. Honeywell will deploy AI-enabled technologies to manage power and cooling demands, which are critical for maintaining ice quality and supporting high-density fan environments.
The partnership integrates fire safety, security, and energy management systems into unified platforms such as Honeywell Forge. These tools allow facility operators to monitor performance in real-time and anticipate maintenance needs, reducing the risk of downtime during events. The collaboration also aims to develop a “Rink of the Future” concept for more sustainable local hockey facilities.
“By optimising building automation and energy management, Honeywell is well-positioned to help the League, its teams and local communities create more resilient, digitally enabled facilities,” said Juan Picon, President, Americas for Honeywell Building Automation.
The initiative follows record attendance for the NHL, with over 23 million fans attending regular-season games this year. The league intends to use Honeywell’s data infrastructure to support both physical building operations and digital fan engagement services.
