An integration between ABB Ability Building Pro and Samsung SmartThings Pro should let building owners and operators access building data, insights and controls through a more connected environment.

Building owners and operators are managing increasingly complex property portfolios while facing growing pressure to improve efficiency and meet sustainability goals. ABB and Samsung are directly addressing that by connecting their respective building intelligence and enterprise IoT platforms, providing more visibility into building performance through a familiar digital environment.

ABB Ability Building Pro connects devices and data across building systems, enabling analytics and operational insights through ABB Ability Building Pro Suites. Samsung SmartThings Pro brings these capabilities into the Samsung ecosystem via a secure cloud-to-cloud integration, allowing data to be shared between both platforms.

“Building owners require a data foundation they can trust and tools that make it easier to manage increasingly complex building portfolios,” said Mike Mustapha, president of ABB’s smart buildings division.

Chan-Woo Park, executive vice president at Samsung, added: “By integrating ABB Ability Building Pro with Samsung SmartThings Pro, we are helping owners and operators access the insights they need to make more informed decisions across their buildings. Samsung SmartThings Pro gives enterprise customers a familiar platform to manage and maximise their buildings and assets.”

With Building Pro Suites, operators can access analytics and operational insights to manage building performance across offices, retail locations and larger commercial buildings.

In hospitality environments, a dedicated option based on ABB I-Bus KNX and NetxAutomation software supports guest room integration with SmartThings Pro. The integration supports occupancy-based energy management and centralised monitoring, helping hotel operators reduce energy consumption and improve operational efficiency. This also supports a phased deployment, allowing users to pilot the technology in a single area before scaling across a property or wider building portfolio.

For guests, the integration allows them to adjust lighting, climate, shading and entertainment through SmartThings Pro from their own smartphones. Guests can also personalise their room environment throughout their stay without having to download an additional app.

The Building Pro and SmartThings Pro (www.samsung.com/us/business/industries/smartthings-pro/) integration will be rolled out at three proof-of-concept sites throughout 2026: Samsung’s business experience centre in Eschborn, Germany; Samsung’s training centre in Amsterdam; and ABB’s headquarters in Middelfart, Denmark. The sites will showcase how the integration can support energy efficiency, building performance and user experience in real-world settings.
