Telenor IoT has enhanced its global connectivity offering with the launch of an APN (access point name) service to strengthen performance, resilience and regional routing capabilities for users worldwide.

APN is the configuration that allows a device to access mobile data services. The global APN service further helps users achieve optimal global network access by enabling devices to connect dynamically to Telenor IoT’s local points of presence (PoPs).

This is seen as a significant step in Telenor IoT’s mission to deliver faster, more reliable and regionally optimised IoT connectivity for enterprises operating across multiple markets.

The APN service simplifies global IoT deployments by enabling companies to use a single APN across all regions – Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Americas. Devices automatically connect to the geographically closest PoP, ensuring optimised performance without reconfiguration.

Benefits include a single APN worldwide, eliminating the need for multiple region-specific APNs and reducing device configuration complexity. Automatic routing to the nearest PoP reduces latency and improves efficiency.

This should see seamless operation across all active Telenor IoT PoPs, in USA, Europe and Asia with no device reconfiguration needed. It supports standard and private APN configurations, depending on user needs.

The global APN reduces technical complexity for global device fleets and ensures applications can scale efficiently without device reconfiguration or operational overhead.

In addition to the existing local break-out possibilities in partner networks with local access, with multiple regional PoPs also available, users gain a faster, more resilient data path for regional IoT traffic and improved performance for latency-sensitive use cases such as payments, real-time analytics and industrial automation.

Scandinavia-based Telenor IoT now operates standard PoPs for global IoT offerings in:

• Europe: Stockholm (primary), Amsterdam (failover)
• Asia-Pacific: Singapore (primary and failover)
• Americas: Ashburn (primary), Los Angeles (failover)

Telenor IoT (iot.telenor.com) also works closely with local operator and peering partners to optimise routing paths continuously, ensuring device traffic takes the shortest, most efficient route through the network.

Combined with the global APN, this regional access footprint provides a foundation for enterprises whose IoT offerings require lower latency, strong resilience and global scalability.
