Quectel has opened a research and development (R&D) office in Manaus, Brazil, reinforcing its commitment to the Latin American market.
Located in one of Brazil’s most important technology and manufacturing hubs, the Manaus R&D centre will focus on supporting the local customer base in the Latam market, driving awareness of Quectel’s IoT portfolio, including its smart modules, short-range technologies, and PCBA and ODM IoT offerings. The site is designed to bring engineering expertise closer to regional customers and partners, enabling faster collaboration and technical support.
“Establishing an R&D presence in Manaus allows us to better serve our customers in Latin America while tapping into Brazil’s strong engineering talent,” said Ricardo Simon, regional sales director at Quectel Wireless. “This new office will enhance our ability to deliver localised, high‑quality IoT and strengthen collaboration with customers and partners across the region.”
Brazil was selected as the location for the centre due to its talent pool, established electronics ecosystem and proximity to key customers across Latam. The investment reflects Quectel’s strategy of building regional innovation capabilities that support global product development while addressing local market requirements.
The Manaus team will play a role in enhancing Quectel’s end‑to‑end IoT offering, supporting applications across industrial, utilities, smart metering, asset tracking and other high‑growth sectors in the region. The centre will also contribute to global R&D programmes, working closely with Quectel teams worldwide.
Quectel plans to grow its team of software and hardware engineers at the Manaus R&D office this year and continue growing the team to support local innovation and global development initiatives.
With a worldwide team of more than 8900 professionals, Quectel (www.quectel.com) delivers end-to-end IoT, spanning cellular, GNSS, satellite, wifi and Bluetooth modules, antennas, value-added services and turnkey offerings including ODM services and system integration.
