Qualcomm powers Advantech module for edge AI

Taiwanese firm Advantech has launched a computer-on-module to deliver AI processing, connectivity and multimedia capabilities for industrial, commercial and medical edge applications.
The AOM-5721 Smarc-based Arm module is powered by the Qualcomm Dragonwing QCS6490 SoC, an edge AI platform featuring an eight-core Kryo CPU, integrated Adreno GPU and an AI engine capable of 12Tops.
It can enable autonomous robots, machine vision and industrial automation with AI-driven ISPs (image signal processors), flexible performance scaling and connectivity. Compact and power-efficient, it can drive rugged handhelds, self-service kiosks, scanning products and human–machine interfaces across enterprise and commercial IoT environments.
The edge AI module supports Yocto 4.0+, Windows 11 IoT Enterprise, Android and Ubuntu Linux, with long-term driver support and SDK updates. Its four-camera support enables machine vision, facial and object recognition, AOI, and medical imaging applications.
AI performance is optimised with the Qualcomm SNPE SDK, while Spectra ISP 570L and Wifi 6E deliver smart retail options, autonomous checkout and multi-gigabit connectivity in a versatile, high-performance form factor.
By integrating the Dragonwing QCS6490 in the module, organisations gain a compact, high-performance and energy-efficient edge AI product suitable for industrial, commercial, retail and medical applications.
