Nordic Semiconductor has introduced AI-assisted development tools designed to support the entire lifecycle of IoT devices. The system is the first in the wireless IoT industry to offer AI workflows from initial prototyping to the management of deployed fleets.
The tools are intended to speed up the creation of proofs-of-concept on Nordic development kits and improve code reliability. Once devices are in the field, the AI-assisted system can be used for root-cause analysis and debugging within the existing development workflow.
Nordic stated that its hardware, software, and cloud services are interconnected to allow the AI assistance to function across the full product lifecycle. The capability is delivered via Nordic MCP servers and is compatible with various third-party AI assistants.
The company aims to simplify complex tasks such as software development kit (SDK) migrations and diagnosing crashes on remote devices. By integrating AI into these processes, Nordic expects to reduce the time and cost associated with embedded development.
“Nordic intends to lead this shift by enabling AI-assisted development across the entire product lifecycle,” said Vegard Wollan, CEO of Nordic Semiconductor. “We are not replacing developer expertise; we are amplifying it.”
