Australian satellite IoT firm Myriota has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indonesian satellite service provider Telkomsat to bring its IoT connectivity to the region.

The ceremonial signing took place in the presence of Joe Szakacs, south Australian minister for trade and investment.

This partnership paves the way for Myriota to offer its multi-band connectivity services and range of IoT enablement products in Indonesia, including the HyperPulse 5G NTN service.

Developed with Viasat (www.viasat.com), HyperPulse is the first IoT service to use Viasat’s dynamic leasing capability across its L-band network. This approach allows connectivity performance – such as latency and data availability – to be adjusted geographically in response to customer demand or environmental conditions.

The HyperPulse service (myriota.com/hyperpulse-5g/) complements Myriota’s LEO-based UltraLite service (myriota.com/myriota-ultralite/), which delivers energy efficiency, security and spectrum efficiency to enable challenging IoT use cases.

Myriota’s services will further broaden Telkomsat’s portfolio of satellite offerings, expanding its already critical role in the development and provision of connectivity services, accelerating digital transformation and driving IoT adoption throughout Indonesia and south-east Asia.

The partnership will target several major growth sectors in the Asean region, including maritime, oil and gas, agriculture, and environmental and disaster monitoring, each expected to reach multi-billion-dollar market value within the next five years.

These industries share a critical need for reliable, affordable and resilient connectivity, particularly in remote areas where traditional networks cannot reach. Satellite IoT offers a pathway to improved productivity and enhanced monitoring across the region.

Szakacs acknowledged the significance of the partnership and its potential to advance high-tech collaboration between Australia and Indonesia. The minister highlighted the opportunities emerging from Myriota and Telkomsat’s shared capability, strong market alignment, and a growing regional demand for reliable IoT. He added that the MoU presented a remarkable opportunity for the expansion of Myriota’s world-leading technology.

“Indonesia is the largest democracy in our region, home to more than 280 million people,” said Szakacs. “The South Australian government recently identified south-east Asia as a priority growth market, and this partnership will connect Myriota’s world-leading technology with one of the world’s fastest growing economic regions. Through its affordable, innovative technology, Myriota is now helping businesses and communities across the world become more connected, more informed and make better decisions.”

Myriota CEO Ben Cade said the MoU marked an important milestone in expanding the company’s presence in Indonesia.

“This partnership brings together Telkomsat’s deep regional experience and Myriota’s world-leading satellite IoT technology,” said Cade. “Together, we’re laying the groundwork for scalable IoT that meets the needs of Indonesia’s most important industries, from energy and resources to agriculture and environmental management.”

The agreement lays the foundation for continued collaboration between Myriota (myriota.com) and Telkomsat (telkomsat.co.id) in advancing satellite IoT capability throughout Indonesia and south-east Asia.
