At last week’s Embedded World in Nuremberg, MediaTek unveiled a range of Genio chipsets for powering IoT products and applications.

The Genio Pro series is the firm’s premium product for high-performance IoT and embedded offerings, while Genio 420 and 360 bring efficient system-level edge AI performance to smart home, retail, industrial and commercial IoT devices.

“We are investing in resources for IoT,” said Sameer Sharma from MediaTek (www.mediatek.com).

With AI, multimedia and display capabilities, along with OS support, Genio Pro can help OEMs develop autonomous mobile robotics, commercial drones, edge AI devices, machine vision systems, and transportation and logistics platforms.

Built on a TSMC 3nm process, Genio Pro integrates an all big-core Arm v9.2 configuration with one Cortex-X925, three Cortex-X4 and four Cortex-A720 cores. This CPU architecture supports up to 260k DMips of compute performance. The Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU offers 3.1Tflops of compute and graphics performance.

Genio Pro has an eighth-generation MediaTek NPU that supports over 50Tops of system-level generative AI acceleration, with NeuroPilot framework to support PyTorch, Onnx runtime and TFLite (LiteRT), offering acceleration for traditional AI tasks such as machine vision and object classification. For generative AI applications, the platform supports token generation rates of up to 23 tokens per second for large language models (LLMs).

To enable camera sensor fusion for robotics and drone applications, Genio Pro supports up to 16 cameras. Additionally, the platform’s user interfaces are supported by up to three 4K displays. To meet the needs of different applications, it supports a selection of Linux operating systems, including Yocto, Debian and Ubuntu distributions. The platform also supports the open-source ROS 2 framework to streamline the development of robotics applications.

For various IoT applications and device tiers, the Genio 420 offers 16Gbyte of LPDDR5X memory to address industry bill of materials costs. This 6nm IoT platform delivers 7.2Tops of system-level AI acceleration and offers OEMs the flexibility to incorporate different kinds of multimedia designs. Genio 420 is pin-to-pin compatible with Genio 720 and 520, allowing OEMs to scale designs across platforms.

Additionally, the Genio 360 and 360P bring generative AI processing and big core compute to value-tier devices. Genio 360 delivers 6Tops of system-level AI performance, while the 360P delivers 8.5Tops, enabling both platforms to support generative AI processing at the edge for models with up to two billion parameters.

Genio Pro will start sampling around now with production in Q3 2026. Genio 420 will start sampling in April 2026. The Genio 360 series is currently sampling. To learn more about MediaTek’s Genio series, visit www.mediatek.com/products/iot/genio-iot.
