Fibocom and MediaTek have launched a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) system that integrates 5G-Advanced connectivity with Wi-Fi 8 technology, targeting residential and small business markets.
The solution combines Fibocom’s FG390 5G module, powered by the MediaTek T930 chipset, with the Filogic 8800 Wi-Fi 8 platform. The integration is designed to support high-density environments with more than 200 simultaneously connected devices.
The CPE solution includes: tri-band concurrency across 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz frequencies; 40% reduction in interference through multi-access point collaboration; and Enhanced Long-Range (ELR) technology to improve wall penetration by 40%.
It also supports sub-millisecond latency for time-sensitive applications, and 5G-Advanced (5G-A) high-speed data standards.
Simon Tao, Vice President of Fibocom’s Wireless Solutions Business Unit, said the solution positions the CPE as a hub for intelligent networking rather than a simple connectivity point. The hardware is designed to support AR/VR applications and smart-home AI devices.
The partnership aims to accelerate the implementation of 5G-A technologies globally. MediaTek and Fibocom stated they will continue to collaborate on Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solutions to support digital transformation for telecommunications operators and enterprise customers.
