Texas electronics company Ambiq Micro has announced a system-on-chip (SoC) series for always-on intelligence at the edge.
The Apollo 510 Lite – the latest member of its Apollo 5 family – delivers AI processing, multi-protocol wireless connectivity and energy efficiency for products such as wearables and medical devices, industrial IoT sensors, and smart buildings.
“The Apollo 510 Lite series marks an important step forward in Ambiq’s expanding portfolio of ultra-low-power AI, bringing the power of edge AI to a broader array of devices and uses across wearables, healthcare, industrial and smart home applications,” said Fumihide Esaka, CEO of Ambiq. “This milestone underscores our commitment to making intelligence possible everywhere, without compromise on power or performance.”
Built on Ambiq’s proprietary Spot subthreshold power optimised technology, the Apollo 510 Lite delivers over 16-times faster performance and up to 30-times better AI energy efficiency than comparable M4 or M33 products. This performance leap enables developers to deploy AI workloads—including health analytics, sensor fusion and voice recognition—while extending battery life for connected devices.
It uses an up to 250MHz Arm Cortex-M55 processor with TurboSpot and Helium technology for efficient AI acceleration. A dedicated 48/96MHz Arm Cortex-M4F coprocessor is for wireless and sensor fusion tasks.
There are 2Mbyte of RAM and 2Mbyte non-volatile memory with dedicated instruction and data caches for faster execution.
Connectivity includes Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4 with +14dBm transmit power for robust signal performance. Dual-mode Bluetooth (Classic + LE) is for low-power audio and backwards compatibility.
Built-in security includes SecureSpot 3.0 with Arm TrustZone, secure boot and authenticated firmware updates for data integrity.
The series is available in three variants: Apollo 510 Lite with no BLE radio; Apollo 510B Lite with BLE-enabled; and Apollo 510D Lite with dual-mode Bluetooth.
The series is available for sampling now, with volume production expected early next year. Visit the Apollo510 Lite SoC series product page (ambiq.com/apollo510-lite-soc-series/) for technical details, development tools and ordering information.
Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Ambiq’s mission is to enable AI and beyond everywhere by delivering low power semiconductors. Ambiq (www.ambiq.com) enables its customers to deliver AI compute at the edge where power consumption problems are the most severe. The company has powered more than 280 million devices to date.
