Taiwanese embedded IoT company Advantech has announced products based on the AMD Ryzen P100 AI embedded processors for applications in industrial automation, medical imaging, transportation and outdoor interactive urban systems.

The range includes the MIO-5380 8.9cm single-board computer, SOM-6874 Com Express computer-on-module and AIMB-2211 Mini-ITX motherboard.

The Ryzen P100 processors scale from four to twelve cores on a unified architecture, delivering up to 80 system Tops for physical AI acceleration, with extended-temperature variants for diverse applications.

Paired with IO, flexible expansion and Advantech’s edge AI SDK and Wise-Edge developer architecture (WEDA), these platforms are said to accelerate AI deployment in enabling faster time to market, lower development risk and long-term reliability.

“AMD continues to advance edge and physical AI innovation, and is pleased to see Advantech rapidly integrating the Ryzen AI Embedded P100 series processors across Com Express, motherboards and single-board platforms,” said Amey Deosthali, senior director at AMD (www.amd.com). “With up to 80 total system Tops, combined with Advantech’s industrial expertise, these drive innovation in automotive, medical imaging and industrial applications.”

The Ryzen P100 processors have up to 12 cores and 24 threads, all based on the latest Zen 5 core architecture. They support the AVX-512 instruction set, including VNNI and BFloat16, delivering high compute density and broad software compatibility for edge applications.

Integrated AMD RDNA graphics leveraging the AMD ROCm software ecosystem can support up to four 4K at 120Hz displays with a hardware codec accelerator. This enables visualisation for machine vision and interactive HMI applications. Combined with the AMD XDNA 2 NPU architecture, the platform offers up to 80 total system Tops of AI inference acceleration.

This heterogeneous architecture streamlines the management of complex AI workloads, delivering performance, low latency and power efficiency under Windows and Linux development environments.

With support for DDR5-5600 memory up to 128Gbyte, PCIe Gen 4 x8, NVMe, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.1 and USB4, these processors provide scalability and flexibility. TDP options range from 15 to 54W, with variants supporting -40 to +105˚C, ensuring energy efficiency without compromising capability.

The MIO-5380 single board computer combines a rugged design with an extension module, supporting external GPUs via MXM, extra LAN ports with PoE, and PCIe expansion through the MCIO connector, while EdgeBMC enables out-of-band remote management even if the OS is unresponsive.

Building on this flexibility, the SOM-6874 Com Express module supports up to 18 PCIe lanes and multiple IOs including 2.5GbE and USB 3.2, with a QFCS thermal design that prevents throttling up to +60˚C and carrier board references to accelerate application development.

For larger-scale integration, the AIMB-2211 motherboard adds connectivity with four independent 4K displays, seven USB ports plus one USB type-C with optional 100W, a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot, one M.2 NVMe slot, and 12 to 24V DC input,.

The P100 processor boards are validated with Windows 11 LTSC and Ubuntu LTSC and are complemented by a suite of value-added software to accelerate development and deployment.

To streamline AI application development, Advantech’s EdgeAI SDK provides a cross-platform toolkit that leverages Ryzen AI processor capabilities, enabling efficient deployment of pre-trained models and faster time to market.

In parallel, Advantech DeviceOn serves as an intelligent device management platform, offering remote monitoring, predictive maintenance and central control to simplify large-scale edge AI operations.

At the system level, Advantech’s Susi API delivers standard interfaces for hardware control and monitoring, allowing easy access to GPIO, watchdog timers, and thermal and power management to enhance stability and efficiency. Complementing these software tools, design-in services provide consultation and technical support from carrier board reference designs to thermal optimisation and compliance testing, helping users reduce development complexity, accelerate deployment and ensure long-term reliability.
