Agentic AI specialist Tensor has launched a fully autonomous L4 self-driving car designed for private ownership The company is claiming its Tensor Robocar is the first that private individuals can fully own.
The new vehicle has been designed from the ground-up as an autonomous vehicle. It has over 100 integrated sensors. Its design includes radar-transparent materials, unobstructed lidar sightlines and a low hood profile. The car’s electrical and electronic architecture is designed for full-stack redundancy of power, communications, and control.
Its sensor suite includes 37 cameras, 5 lidars, 11 radars, 22 microphones, 10 ultrasonic sensors, 3 IMUs, GNSS, 16 collision detectors, 8 water-level detectors, 4 tyre-pressure sensors, 1 smoke detector, and triple-channel 5G.
The Robocar’s AI is built on the Tensor Foundation Model. Perception, prediction, and planning are through deep learning trained on very large real-world and simulated datasets. The AI stack is based on a Transformer architecture and advanced sensor fusion. This allows the car to navigate challenging conditions, including night, glare, fog and rain.
Tensor’s dual-system AI mirrors human cognition: System 1 delivers fast, reflexive responses through imitation learning from expert drivers, while System 2 uses a sophisticated multimodal Visual Language Model to reason through rare and complex edge cases. Trained on proprietary and internet-scale visual data, it enables Tensor to handle the unexpected—not just the predictable.
“When the world shifts… how will you move?” said Amy Luca, Chief Marketing Officer at Tensor. “We are building a world where individuals own their personal AGI agents, enhancing freedom, privacy and autonomy. With Tensor, we’re introducing the world’s first personal Robocar, ushering in the era of AI defined vehicles. This isn’t a car as we know it. It’s an embodied personal agent that moves you. It’s time to Own Your Autonomy.”
