Chinese lidar maker LSLiDAR has launched a 1550nm fibre laser-based automotive grade lidar, the LS series. The new compact form factor lidar series is designed to meet long-range and high-resolution sensing requirements in high-way ADAS L3+ applications.
The new lidar has a 500m ranging capability, with 250m@10% reflectivity. According to LSLiDAR, the 1550nm platform is more than 10,000 times safer for the human eye than conventional 905nm lasers. This greater safety allows for increased peak pulse power reaching longer detection distances while maintaining eye safety. It means that intelligent driving systems can now detect smaller objects sooner at high speeds.
Resolution of the fibre-laser lidar has 128-line, 256-line and 512-line configurations generating 1.6 million pts/sec, 3.2 million pts/sec, and 6.4 million pts/sec respectively. The series also has a FOV of 120°(V) x 25°(H), and a standard resolution at 128 lines of 0.09°(H) x 0.2°(V). With Region of Interest (ROI) feature enabled, equivalent to 512 lines, the angular resolution reaches 0.05°. The LS series 256-line has a standard resolution of 0.09°(H) x 0.1°(V). With Region of Interest (ROI) feature enabled, equivalent to 800 lines, the angular resolution reaches 0.03°.
