European intelligent transport body Ertico and the International Transport Forum (ITF-OECD) have agreed to strengthen global cooperation on transport policy and the deployment of intelligent mobility.

The agreement establishes a framework for closer collaboration between the two organisations, combining ITF’s role as a global, intergovernmental platform for transport policy dialogue with Ertico’s position as a European public-private partnership driving the development and deployment of intelligent transport systems (ITS).

The partnership will cover a range of activities, including mutual contributions to research and studies, exchange of insights on emerging transport and ITS trends, and joint exploration of applications such as AI in transport and mobility.

It also foresees coordinated thought leadership through shared platforms and international events. This includes the ITS Congresses organised by Ertico and the ITF Summit.

“Formalising our long-standing cooperation with ITF reinforces Ertico’s role as a bridge between policy, innovation and deployment,” said Ertico (www.ertico.com) CEO Joost Vantomme. “By aligning ITF’s global policy perspective with Ertico’s cross-sector ecosystem and expertise, the collaboration will support data-driven, forward-looking transport policies and accelerate the responsible adoption of innovative mobility worldwide.”

ITF (www.itf-oecd.org) secretary-general Young Tae Kim added: “Ertico is a longstanding, trusted partner of the International Transport Forum in the field of intelligent transport systems. Ertico is a European leader in helping to advance smart mobility and logistics from vision to reality. I look forward to the even closer collaboration that this agreement between our two organisations will enable.”
