Montreal-based AI-based automation and robotics specialist Vention has introduced GRIIP (Generalised Robotic Industrial Intelligence Pipeline), an end-to-end physical AI pipeline designed to enable deployment of autonomous robot cells in unstructured manufacturing environments.

GRIIP integrates proprietary models with NVIDIA’s open-source foundation models, providing a unified pipeline from perception to motion that can handle scene digitalisation and calibration, object detection and segmentation, 6DOF pose estimation, grasp point evaluation, and collision-free path planning. The architecture continuously evolves by leveraging the latest physical AI models, improving performance over time without hardware upgrades or manual intervention.

According to Vention, GRIIP has demonstrated consistent and reliable pick performance in 24/7 lights-out operation over three months, maintaining cycle times of up to five parts per minute without degradation. The pipeline works out-of-the-box with no training data or custom datasets, enabling manufacturers to deploy new robot cells and add new parts without programming.

GRIIP can be deployed across multiple tasks and use cases within a factory, including bin picking, machine tending, conveyor pick-and-place, kitting, de-palletising, and sanding. The technology has been validated for production-grade performance, with sub-millimetre pose estimation accuracy and adaptive performance across part geometries and material properties.
