Taiwanese electronics manufacturer USI has launched an edge computing smart camera system designed to automate visual inspection and quality control in manufacturing facilities.
The industrial camera integrates high-resolution imaging with an embedded computing platform to process visual data directly on the factory floor. The system provides real-time visual guidance to robotic systems and automation platforms, allowing manufacturers to identify process deviations, detect defects early and reduce reliance on manual quality assurance.
To support the deployment of machine vision, the platform manages the complete data lifecycle, including data collection and dataset generation. It features a no-code and low-code training environment, enabling factory operators to develop and deploy visual inspection applications rapidly without requiring specialised programming expertise.
The ruggedised hardware includes industrial-grade interfaces such as Power over Ethernet, HDMI and MicroSD, ensuring compatibility with existing machine vision systems. It supports specific manufacturing tasks including optical character recognition, component positioning, assembly verification and product classification.
“Demand for AI-powered vision applications is growing rapidly across the manufacturing sector,” said Justin Chang, Director of the Vertical Mobility Solution Centre at USI. “By combining advanced Edge AI capabilities with our integrated vision platform, we enable customers to accelerate the adoption of smart manufacturing, quality inspection, and industrial automation applications.”
